making a case for Mister Rogers

On Friday the local PBS station did not play Mister Rogers' Neighborhood at 12pm. Eva and I have become very fond of the Mister Rogers' show for a long time now. Eva's first real word was "bubble" from watching the Mister Rogers' opera: Windstorm in Bubbleland. So we were both very upset that Mister Rogers was not on the TV to watch after lunchtime. Mommy was quite upset too.

The show is on today (thankfully), but Mommy is now a part of an organization to bring the program back to other PBS stations. Check it out: Save Mister Rogers' Neighborhood

Mommy has many childhood memories of the show, and Fred Rogers is her idol. He was a musician, a teacher, a humanitarian, and a pastor. He is someone to look up to, and Mommy thinks he is the best. Eva and I do too!

Mommy & Me...twins?

On Saturday, Mommy got her hair cut...

We went to Tim Hortons yesterday (before going to the museum) to get me my favorite sparkle doughnut. While we were waiting to pay the lady from the drive through window came up front and said to Mommy, "I know exactly what you looked like as a little girl!" Mommy laughed. Because she thinks it was only the haircut, considering I look so much like my Daddy!

I love my Mommy!

Happy New Year 2009!

What a busy December!
We had so much fun preparing the house for Christmas and the arrival of baby Jesus and Santa. I had a blast making a foamy gingerbread train with Mommy and a graham cracker gingerbread style house with Papa Grandma.

We also had a couple snowfalls. One was over 8 inches, so Eva and I were able to build a fort and a cool snowman with Daddy!

We were so excited for Santa as we prepared the plate of cookies, poured the milk, and made a bowl full of carrots for Santa's reindeer.

Daddy took the last two weeks of December off from work. So this past Monday (a day between visiting with friends and family), we went to the zoo. It was so cool to see all the animals running around and not just laying there. We've only visited in the summertime, so it was really cool to visit when it was chilly outside. My favorite animal is the blue frog. Eva loved the apes so much she not only licked the glass of their cage, but she cried, "mine...mine" when we were leaving!

So here's to another year - 2009 - and all the new adventures and journeys we'll endure!

Zoe's Dance Classes

Breakfast with Santa

Here Eva and I are with Santa Claus. Our church had a special Breakfast With Santa this morning! We had pancakes, sausage, and lots of yummy things, sang with Mommy AND then Santa came to visit.

As you can see, I am not as "in love" with Santa as Eva is. However, I did get my chance to tell him what I needed: "please bring me a Zoe doll". Eva couldn't get enough!

baby Eva grows up

Today is Eva's 18 month Birthday. Mommy says that at 18 months you don't get a party, but I still think we should have cake!

Today Baby Evie and I went to see Dr. Corah for Eva's 18 month check up. Eva's stats are:

Height: 33 inches
Weight: 29.5 pounds

She had quite the growth spurt in the last few months. Of course she is betting to be a big girl. I also got to watch her get two shots, and she cried. I laughed and Mommy told me it wasn't nice to laugh at Evie crying. After all I guess I have another flu shot next week, and Mommy said she'd laugh at me if I didn't stop laughing at the baby. I stopped.

Here is a picture of me too - I love this one - I look so grown up.

I'm getting excited for the holiday - Thanksgiving and Christmas. Mommy is just hoping to catch her breath before than.

our new president

Eva and I are part of a historic event - the first African-American man to be elected to the highest office in our country: President of the United States of America.

We are proud to call ourselves Americans.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2008!

Here we are on Halloween! Boy did we have fun in October. Between going to Greenfield Village for Hallowe'en, dressing up for church, and Trick-or-Treating - we had a blast!

There is Mommy with Evie and me!

Fall is Here!

We love fall. This year I am teaching Eva all about what happens in the fall. The weather gets cooler - which means jackets and sweaters. And leaves fall from the trees!

The cooler weather meant I could go fishing with Papa Tom! His boat is really cool! But I didn't like going fast on the boat. I was really excited to catch the fish, but not too excited to have it near me!

Mommy & I have been making projects with leaves (I even wrote a leaf story). And Daddy helped make a foamy spooky tree house! I am having so much fun making foamy holiday magnets all by myself. Mommy & Daddy are very proud!

We were not able to visit the apple orchard before the apples were picked, but we still have a lot of fun with the animals, eating cookies and spending time with Mommy & Daddy!

I started ballet and gymnastic classes, and Eva and I are both in swimming classes with Mommy & Daddy. I love taking classes by myself, and Mommy & Daddy are proud of me!

July activities

Our Trip to Detroit (weekend of July 11th):

We visited Daddy's work - he works at the RenCen. We took the People Mover and walked the Riverwalk to a really cool carousel.

I rode alone! I was so proud of myself, and Mommy and Daddy were really proud too!

Here I am on a map of the Detroit Metro area - what a little model!

We went to the Conservatory (a plant and flower place) on Belle Isle. It was really fun.

As you can see we had a GREAT time in Detroit, and didn't want to leave!

Eva 1 year stats

Mommy took Eva to the doctor today for a wellness visit. She is in great shape - and the doctor was very surprised at how well she can walk. Her stats are as follows:

Weight - 24.5 pounds
Height - 30 1/2 inches

We also had our tree trimmed in the backyard today. There was a lot of mess...as you know, I love organized things. But the guys cleaned all their mess while I was napping!
